AP Configuration in WLC5508

Configuration Inside the AP in WLC 5508

In the WLC Configuration Window, choose the few

Wireless --> AP (Select AP)
          --> Advanced --> AP Group Name  :  TESTGP

This will allow the AP to show the two SSID's that were configured in the WLC

Startup the Cisco Switch

Enter The following commands to the Interface connecting to the WLC

(In this case it is Gigabitethernet 0/48)

Config t
interface gigabitethernet 0/48
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
no shut

Cisco WLC 5508 Configure

Configure WLC 5508 for Internal and Guest WLAN

Access the controller Web Console using its Management IP Address (In this case 10.20.0.10)

Below is the Steps to Configure the WLC for two SSID's with two Subnets

(1)  Under Controllers Tab --> Internal DHCP Server-->DHCP Scope

              (a) TESTZONE SCOPE --  10.20.0.50 - 10.20.0.55
                    Default Router   ----   10.20.0.1

              (b)GUESTZONE SCOPE -- 10.10.0.50 - 10.10.0.55
                   Default Router   ----   10.10.0.1


(2) Controller --> Interface

              (a)              Management - VLAN20
                                IP Address - 10.20.0.10
                                Gateway  -  10.20.0.1
                                Primary DHCP - 10.20.0.10

          Create a new interface Guest
              (b)           GuestInt - VLAN10
                              IP Address - 10.10.0.10
                             Gateway - 10.10.0.1
                             Primary DHCP - 10.20.0.10

(3)Controller --> Interface GP

            (a)          Guest
                               Interface name  :  Guest Int

            (b)        Test
                           Interface name   :   Management


(4)WLANS --> Create New --> general

                (a)  TESTZONE --> Interface : Management
                (b) GUEST -->Interface  :  Guestint


(5)WLANS-->ADVANCED-->APGROUPS

                 (a) TESTGP-->WLANS
                             (1) TESTZONE

WLC 5508 Initial Setup

Once Started Up Press any key to stop automated setup

Enter the Administrative username and password for WLC

Username   :   Admin
Password   :   ********* ( Should be a complex password)

Configure the rest,

Service Port   :   none, static (to disable dynamic IP / to enter a static address)
Service IP    :  192.168.60.10
Mask    :    255.255.255.0
Management IP   :    10.20.0.10
Mask    :    255.255.255.0
Default Router    :    10.20.0.1
DHCP Server IP   :   10.20.0.10
Virtual IP    :    1.1.1.1
